ITINERARY

Day 01 - Arrive Chennai
Arriving Chennai, you will clear customs and immigration. Leaving the airport, you will be met by our representative, holding a play card with your name on it at the exit. Arrival transfer to hotel Taj Coromandel. Day 02 - Chennai
After breakfast half day sightseeing of Chennai. There are several tourist attractions worth visiting in and around Chennai. The St. George Fort - built in 1653, the most powerful symbol of the British Empire in its early days in India, Fort St. George was the first piece of real estate for British in India. For many, it is still unclear that why Sir Day (the founder) choose this place to build this important fort, leaving many other picturesque locations on the vast coastline of the Bay of Bengal. The fort has a grey granite exterior unlike the Mughal forts that has lavish ornamentation and luxury. Santhome Cathedral which was built around 14th/15th century and is another colonial structure worth visiting. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Kapaleeshwar Temple which is the oldest temple in Chennai. Day 03 - Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and we take you to on a visit to Kanchipuram (64 kms from Chennai) which is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks. 

In the afternoon continue drive to Mahabalipuram which is famous for the seven pagodas. Here on the seashore is an interesting group of ancient rock hewn temples which are the examples of Dravidian style of Architecture. Day 06 - Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and drive to Pondicherry - the undiscovered land. Day 07 - Pondicherry -  Srirangam - Trichy
After breakfast check-out from the hotel and drive to Trichy. En-route visit Srirangam which is a living example of a temple town where all life centres round the temple. This massive temple complex has 21 magnificent gateway towers (gopurams) and a 1000-pillared hall with beautiful carvings, all within the 7 walls of the temple town. The 22nd gateway tower,  236 ft. high, has just been completed. It is the tallest temple tower in Asia.

Later on continue drive to Trichy which is located on the banks of the Cauvery river and is the fourth largest city in Tamil Nadu. A wonderful mix of history and modernity, Trichy was once ruled by the Cholas and later by the Pallavas. Trichy was under the Mughals for some time and later the Vijaynagar rulers captured it. It remained under the Vijaynagar Empire till 1736 before Muslims took it. Later, the British took Triuchirappalli under their control till the independence. On arrival check-in into hotel Sangam. Day 08 - Trichy - Madurai

Madurai has the most outstanding examples of Vijayanagar temple architecture in the Minakshi Temple, a standing monument to the temple builders of the 16th and 17th century. Day 09 - Madurai
After breakfast visit Meenakshi Temple, where thousands of priests and worshippers come daily, temple elephant people are blessed and astrologists read the stars and hands. You can also get your fortune read by parrots that pick tarot cards out of a pile. All the believers bathe themselves in the temple baths. The temple also has a museum with beautiful bronze statues. In the evening sermons are held within the walls of the temple and concerts are often given in honor of the gods. The one thing that you must not miss is the evening ceremony with a fanfare, where the god Shiva is lead to the bedroom of his wife, Meenakshi. Rest of the day free to relax at your hotel. Day 10 - Madurai - Kovalam

Day 11 - Kovalam - Ponmudi - Pandmanabhapuram - Kanyakumari - Kovalam
Early morning we take you to full day excursions to nearby places. First of all drive to Aruvikkara water falls. You will then drive to PONMUDI a beautiful Hill station decked with stone cottage. You will be struck with natural scenery and the cool climate. Those who are intersted in hiking can attempt the high trails. Later on continue drive to PADMANABHAPURAM to see the beautiful Palace of the erstwhile kings of Travancore. From here you will reach KANYAKUMARI, India's lands end which is a confluence of three oceans, well in time to see the sun setting into the sea. Leave Kanyakumari by dusk and back to Kovalam. Day 12 TO 14 - Kovalam
After breakfast full days at leisure at beach side area. Kovalam is one of the loveliest beaches in the world. When you are tired of aquatics, swimming or sunbathing, you can explore the handicrafts, jewellery and cloth shops spread along the waterfront. Not to speak of the delightful seafood fare including lobsters available at the beach-side restaurants of Kovalam. In the evening the quiet atmosphere of the Kovalam beachside is enlivened by Kathakali performances, the classical dance-drama of Kerala. At present Kovalam is developed not only as a beach resort, but also as a Yoga and health center. Day 15 - Trivandrum - Mumbai (Departure)
